Impact will personalize Team of Eight training to meet the specific needs of the school district and the board of trustees.
NEW TEAM OF EIGHT TRAINING
This training is designed for a school district whose superintendent has served less than one year in the district. It provides clarity relating to the roles and responsibilities for the superintendent and the board members. Attendees will also discuss key initiatives and define goals to be accomplished within the district.
COMMUNITY-BASED ACCOUNTABILITY
The training will explore how districts can design their own internal assessment and accountability that best reflect the needs of their community. Topics will include how to create customized student learning standards and comprehensive reporting of district performance.
GOVERNANCE
A review of the roles and responsibilities of the board of trustees and the superintendent will be presented, including separation of powers. School boards with solid governance are vital for school district success.
EFFECTIVE BOARD/
SUPERINTENDENT RELATIONS
Going beyond roles and responsibilities, this session will focus on specific practices to maximize a great working relationship between the superintendent and the board. It will provide practical recommendations to establish a collaborative working environment that allows for district improvement.
POLICY REVIEW
Board policies are integral to effective school governance. Specific board policies will be reviewed relating to governance / open meetings, grievances, and personnel.
GOAL SETTING/
STRATEGIC PLAN INITIATION
One of the most important responsibilities of the board of trustees is to work with the superintendent to formulate goals for the district and lead in strategic planning design. This workshop is designed to formulate key components of the strategic plan and review the district vision and mission statement.
DISTRICT CULTURE
While facilities and programs are important, there is no more vital component to school success than a culture of challenge and high expectations. The Impact Education partners will provide insight and lead discussion to establish a dynamic culture for districts.
